Litigation Paralegal at Lynch Dallas, . Lynch Dallas, . is an established law firm seeking an experienced Litigation Paralegal to join their team. This position is full-time, non-exempt and reports to the Supervisory Attorney. The successful candidate will use their legal expertise, attention to detail and organizational skills to handle a wide range of legal and administrative duties to assist attorneys in preparing pleadings, affidavits, releases and other legal documents. Essential Functions, Duties and Responsibilities: • Prepare pleadings, affidavits, releases, and other legal documents. • Draft documents including medical record summaries and other summaries. • Conduct legal research and other searches (. lien and background) using appropriate research tools and allocating expenses to various projects. • Attend court and depositions with supervising attorneys to assist with document handling and litigation support. • Prepare attorneys for depositions. • Conduct routine and advanced discovery through the use of interrogatories, document requests, and request for admissions. • Review and analyze discovery responses and prepare good faith letters and motions to compel discovery as needed. • Organize and maintain key evidence and documents with the assistance of support staff. • Assist with preparing supporting materials for complex motions for summary judgment and appellate briefs. • Regularly follow and cite the Iowa Rules of Court – State and Federal and Federal Rules of Civil Procedure. • Perform legal research. • Conduct meetings/interact with clients. • Train fellow paralegals and legal assistants as needed. • Maintain confidentiality of information and observe all ethical rules. • Regular and punctual attendance, including the ability to occasionally work on weekends and holidays as needed. • Other functions, duties and projects as assigned/needed. Key Attributes and Skills: • Working knowledge and proficient use of personal computer, Microsoft 365 (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Teams) and Adobe Pro. Ability to learn other software programs as needed. • Ability to regularly, accurately, and properly enter billable time in TABS3 billing software. • Use Westlaw and other research tools to perform legal research and prepare memoranda regarding same. • Strong written and verbal communication skills, ability to speak in front of groups, interview clients and witnesses and ability to work well with other people. • Ability to work in a diverse work environment. • Ability to work on a team and individually. • Capable of performing duties with deliberate speed and accuracy without immediate and constant supervision. • Demonstrated decision making and problem-solving skills. • Excellent calendar management skills, including the use of complex document management programs. • Excellent organizational skills, including being accurate and detail oriented; ability to manage voluminous amounts of physical and digital documents and ensure quality control of the documents from clients, witnesses, and other parties to litigation. • Experience in basic court filing procedures, mail processing, copying, drafting letters and forms, and creating legal documents from scratch. • Ability to exercise good judgment in recognizing scope of authority. • This is a sedentary role; however, some filing is required.
