Job Overview:
A law firm seeks a skilled and driven Construction Attorney to join their expanding team. This position will offer the opportunity to work on significant and complex construction projects, collaborating with professionals from various sectors such as municipalities, developers, and contractors. The firm is located in Michigan, where it is renowned for its role in shaping high-profile development projects. As a member of this team, you will be involved in advising clients through every phase of development and construction, while also handling intricate disputes and contract negotiations.
Duties:
- Provide legal guidance to clients on all phases of construction and development projects.
- Draft and negotiate contracts related to construction and development.
- Advise clients on key issues including real estate, zoning, financing, insurance, and environmental concerns.
- Support the planning and management of large-scale construction projects.
- Resolve disputes through various channels, including alternative dispute resolution and litigation.
- Review and analyze project specifications to ensure adherence to contractual obligations.
- Oversee construction-related claims, warranty submissions, and bond issues.
- Represent clients in legal cases involving construction defects, including those with architects, engineers, and contractors.
- Manage the preparation and filing of construction liens, as well as any related legal processes, such as lien foreclosure litigation.
Requirements:
- Minimum of 4 years of experience in construction law, preferably with exposure to large commercial projects.
- Proven ability to understand complex legal and technical matters quickly.
- Strong organizational skills with an emphasis on detail and accuracy.
- Experience in handling multifaceted projects and managing multiple deliverables simultaneously.
- Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
- Capacity to work independently while also thriving in a team-oriented environment.
Education:
- Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.
Certifications:
- Active membership in the State Bar of Michigan (or ability to obtain).
