The ideal candidate should possess patent preparation and prosecution experience in the software, computer science, electrical or mechanical areas. Patent attorneys assist with the preparation and prosecution of patent applications, patentability and clearance opinions, patent estate management, licensing and enforcement of patent for a diverse clientele. Associates have an exciting opportunity to learn from and work closely with experienced patent practitioners in a friendly, cooperative environment. Overview of Job Responsibilities: Simultaneously handle the high-level and strategic aspects of multiple legal matters at different stages of progression, from inception to conclusion Possess strong attention to detail and good interpersonal skills for communicating with attorneys and clients Demonstrate an ability to work independently and productively and show a strong interest in advancing a career in Intellectual Property law Produce quality legal work and bill the required amounts of hours to ensure excellent client services Manage business and generate business through group and individual efforts Comply with the very highest ethical standards of the legal profession Qualifications: Juris Doctor Bachelors or higher in Electrical, Computer, or Mechanical Engineering, or Computer Science (Preferred) Licensed to practice law in good standing in one or more jurisdictions where the Firm conducts business; must maintain applicable license renewal and CLE requirements; Registered to practice before the USPTO 1 year experience as a licensed attorney at a law firm 2-8 years’ experience as a licensed attorney at a law firm (Preferred) Competencies: Decision Making – actively makes decisions on client matters with little supervision Communication - strong, professional communication, both written and orally to both internal and external clients Leadership - actively delegates orders Continuous Learning - actively embraces learning new skills and mastering new technology and sharing with others Teamwork – works as diligent member of client teams and begins to lead teams in matters Alignment to Values - Influences the awareness and adoption of the Firm's values on a larger scale; influences the awareness and adoption of diversity and inclusion; demonstrates respect by providing solutions and support Physical Activity: The employee will be required to sit (or utilize a standing desk) for prolonged periods and work on a computer Travel Required: Less than 10% Salary: Commensurate with experience.
