A law firm seeks an Associate Attorney to join its Employment Law practice in Chicago. This full-time position offers the opportunity to represent clients in employment-related matters, focusing on cases involving the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and general employment law. The ideal candidate will bring at least one year of experience in this area, a collaborative mindset, and the ability to handle various aspects of employment law, including advising clients, drafting legal documents, and representing clients in hearings and mediations.

Duties

  • Advise and represent clients in employment-related legal matters, including grievances, arbitration, and discrimination complaints.
  • Assist clients with filing EEOC complaints and other employment law-related filings.
  • Draft and respond to discovery requests, complaints, motions, and other legal documents for use in both state and federal court proceedings.
  • Attend administrative hearings and mediate disputes between parties.
  • Conduct legal research and synthesize findings into clear, actionable memoranda, briefs, and legal documents for clients and courts.
  • Counsel clients on various aspects of the employer-employee relationship, ensuring compliance with federal and state employment laws.
  • Negotiate with opposing parties regarding settlement terms and legal disputes.

Requirements

  • Juris Doctor (.) from an ABA-accredited law school.
  • Admission to the bar in the state where you will practice.
  • A minimum of one year of experience in employment law, particularly in areas related to the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).
  • Proven experience representing clients in grievances, arbitration, and discrimination complaints.
  • Strong research, analytical, and writing skills, with the ability to distill complex legal concepts into clear and concise advice.
  • Experience with mediation, settlement negotiations, and litigation in state and federal courts.

Education

  • Juris Doctor (.) from an ABA-accredited law school.

Certifications

  • Active bar membership in the state of practice.

  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Exceptional research, analysis, and legal writing abilities.
  • Experience with employment law, especially ADA-related matters.
  • Negotiation skills with a focus on settlement and dispute resolution.
