ProfileSenior Supervising Attorney - Adjudications The candidate will oversee prosecuting attorneys and supervising attorneys assigned to appear on Commission summonses at the Office of Administrative Trials and Hearing (OATH). Will directly manage the prosecution of Commission summonses at OATH Hearings Division and oversee the prosecution of fitness and serious misconduct cases heard at OATH Trials Division. Responsibilities will include: managing weekly and daily calendar of Commission summonses; assigning and monitoring cases handled by prosecuting attorneys; overseeing the preparation of evidence and witnesses for introduction at administrative hearings; collaborating with OATH to ensure the efficient disposal of cases; coordinating with Commission enforcement staff to ensure officer presence at required court appearances; providing instruction and feedback to prosecuting attorneys as needed; and overseeing the prosecution of drug, suspension, serious misconduct and other fitness-related cases heard at OATH Trials Division.
Qualification and Experience
The candidate should have admission to the New York State Bar and 1 year of satisfactory United States legal experience subsequent to admission to any State Bar or 6 months of satisfactory service as an Agency Attorney Interne (30086). Must remain member of the New York State Bar in good standing for the duration of this employment. Should preferably have litigation experience and knowledge of administrative and regulatory law as utilized in administrative hearings. Prior experience supervising attorneys in an executive, administrative or managerial capacity strongly preferred.
