Job Title: Defense Litigation Associate Attorney

Job Overview:
A law firm located in White Plains, NY is seeking a talented associate attorney to join its Mass Torts and Industry-Wide Litigation team. This position will focus on NYS Labor Law and personal injury litigation. The successful candidate will work in collaboration with attorneys across the firm's offices and will be involved in a range of litigation tasks related to the defense of complex personal injury cases.

Duties:

  • Conduct legal research on Labor Law and personal injury issues and develop defense strategies in collaboration with senior attorneys.
  • Take and defend depositions in various cases.
  • Oversee discovery and e-discovery processes.
  • Draft legal documents including reports, legal memoranda, pleadings, motions, briefs, and discovery demands/responses.
  • Participate in trial and ADR preparation and planning.
  • Represent clients at courtroom conferences and motion hearings.
  • Manage day-to-day aspects of Labor Law and personal injury cases under supervision.
  • Meet the annual billable hour target of 1900 hours.

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 2 years of general liability litigation experience.
  • Juris Doctorate from an ABA-accredited law school.
  • Admission to the New York State Bar is required.
  • Admission to the Connecticut, Massachusetts, and/or New Jersey Bar (or ability to waive into NJ) is preferred.
  • Experience handling cases in NYS courts is required; federal court experience is a plus.
  • Proficiency in taking depositions, drafting motions, and pleadings, and handling e-discovery.
  • Experience with video conferencing platforms (., Zoom, MS Teams) for depositions and court conferences.
  • Must be willing to travel for in-person depositions and court appearances, including overnight stays if necessary.
  • Strong research, writing, and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to prioritize and manage competing demands.
  • Ability to quickly absorb and apply new legal information.
  • High standards of performance, dedication, and responsibility.
  • A professional and cooperative attitude is essential.
  • Military experience is welcomed.

Education:

  • Juris Doctorate (JD) from an ABA-accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Admission to the New York State Bar is required.
  • Additional certifications in Connecticut, Massachusetts, or New Jersey are preferred.
