Law Firm Seeking Experienced Patent Agent/Engineer in Kansas City

Are you a highly skilled and experienced Patent Agent/Engineer in the field of computer science/engineering? Responsibilities of a Patent Agent/Engineer at Shook Hardy and Bacon:

- Draft high-quality patent applications in the field of computer science/engineering, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
- Collaborate with inventors, engineers, and legal teams to understand technical aspects and translate them into patentable inventions.
- Prosecute patent applications before the USPTO to secure strong and defensible intellectual property rights.
- Conduct patent landscape analyses to identify potential risks and opportunities in the competitive landscape.
- Stay abreast of industry trends, legal developments, and changes in patent law to provide strategic guidance to the organization.
- Assist in the development and implementation of IP strategies aligned with business goals.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure alignment between patent strategy and overall business objectives.

Requirements for a Successful Patent Agent/Engineer:

- Bachelor's or advanced degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
- Must be patent barred.
- Minimum of two (2) years of experience as a Patent Agent, with a focus on computer science/engineering.
- Demonstrated success in drafting and prosecuting patent applications.
- Strong understanding of US patent laws and regulations.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
- Detail-oriented with strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
