Responsibilities:

- Assist attorneys and other paralegals with various tasks related to providing legal assistance to clients
- Utilize technical systems, specifically litigation support databases and trial presentation software
- Conduct fact investigation and research, both online and within case materials
- Prepare and assist in drafting legal documents
- Manage and maintain document organization and case files
- Utilize technical databases to upload, search, and retrieve supporting documents
- Monitor and prioritize daily workflow and case management
- Schedule arbitration and trial preparation meetings
- Communicate with clients, opposing counsel, and arbitrators
- Assist in arbitration hearing preparation
- Maintain the arbitration awards database
- Provide general administrative support
- Maintain and submit time entries for billing purposes
- Effectively communicate with other legal and support departments/personnel and clients
- Understand and draft complex legal concepts

Qualifications:

- Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of training and experience
- Certificate of completion from a Paralegal school or institute preferred
- 2-5 years of litigation/employment law experience preferred
- Familiarity with mid-to-large sized firms
- Ability to multitask and maintain professionalism
- Knowledge of legal research techniques and software systems
- Knowledge of court rules and procedures
- Knowledge of law office practices and procedures
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office

Sherman & Howard, a leading law firm in Colorado Springs, is seeking a Paralegal with 2-5 years of experience in Labor & Employment. The successful candidate will have a Bachelor's degree and preferably a certificate from a Paralegal school or institute. They should also have experience with litigation and employment law, as well as familiarity with mid-to-large sized firms.

As a Paralegal in the Labor & Employment Department, the chosen candidate will assist attorneys and other paralegals with various tasks related to providing legal assistance to clients. This includes conducting fact investigation and research, preparing and drafting legal documents, and managing and maintaining document organization and case files.

One of the key responsibilities of this position is utilizing technical systems, specifically litigation support databases and trial presentation software. The candidate should be comfortable and proficient in these systems, as well as have the ability and desire to learn new systems quickly. Experience with Relativity and Trial Director is highly desirable.

The Paralegal will also be responsible for scheduling arbitration and trial preparation meetings, communicating with clients, opposing counsel, and arbitrators, and assisting in arbitration hearing preparation. They will also maintain the arbitration awards database and provide general administrative support.

The chosen candidate should have a strong attention to detail, excellent communication skills, and the ability to multitask and prioritize daily workflow. They should also have a good understanding of legal research techniques and software systems, as well as knowledge of court rules and procedures.
