**Job Description Summary:**

Nationwide is seeking a Senior Paralegal for their Trial Division in Michigan. This is a full-time position with in-office expectations and a 1:1 attorney/paralegal ratio. The ideal candidate will have experience in insurance defense and/or plaintiff litigation, as well as high value complex litigation experience. This role offers a good work-life balance and no billable hours.

**Job Description:**

As a Senior Paralegal in Nationwide's Trial Division, you will provide pre-trial and trial support for litigated matters of moderate to high complexity. This includes assisting in the preparation, review, filing, and service of pleadings, motions, discovery, and subpoenas. You will also coordinate and schedule depositions, hearings, and meetings, as well as provide administrative support to the trial team. Additionally, you will maintain confidentiality and have in-depth knowledge of each file assigned to the team.

**Key Responsibilities:**

- Provide direct pre-trial and trial support for litigated matters of moderate to high complexity.
- Coordinate and schedule depositions, hearings, and meetings.
- Provide administrative support to the trial team.
- Understand and maintain confidentiality.
- Have in-depth knowledge of each file assigned to the team.
- Coordinate workflow and support the overall litigation strategy.
- May assist in training and mentoring new and less experienced Paralegals and Legal Assistants.
- Perform other responsibilities as assigned.

**Reporting Relationships:**

The Senior Paralegal will report to the Managing Attorney.

**Typical Skills and Experiences:**

- Undergraduate studies in business administration, insurance, or a related area preferred.
- Certification in paralegal studies strongly preferred, or equivalent experience.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience as a paralegal.
- Experience in civil litigation preferred.
- Knowledge of law office operations, practices, and procedures.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong organizational skills and detail-oriented.
- Technologically savvy and adaptable to learning new systems.
- Ability to prioritize and multitask.
- Ability to work independently and exercise good judgment.
- Understanding of insurance practice civil defense and personal and commercial lines policies preferred.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite and case management databases, such as Legal Files.
- Must comply with corporate and NTD policies and procedures.
- Complies with the private practice of law policy and ethical rules of the state.
