Texas RioGrande Legal Aid, Inc. (TRLA) is a non-profit law firm seeking a Staff Attorney to join their Employment Team in El Paso, Texas. The Employment Team focuses on advocating for and representing workers in various industries, including domestic work, restaurants, hospitality, home health care, warehouses, construction, and landscaping. The Staff Attorney will handle a caseload that includes litigation, administrative proceedings, and counseling and advising clients.

Responsibilities:

- Carry an individual caseload, including litigation and representation in administrative proceedings
- Counsel and advise applicants for legal services
- Assist with community outreach and educational presentations

Qualifications and Preferences:

- Demonstrated commitment to the rights of low-income immigrant communities or workers’ rights
- Cultural competency, including understanding the unique needs of low-wage workers
- Proficiency in spoken and written Spanish preferred
- Experience in employment law or workers’ rights preferred
- Strong case development, legal research, and writing skills
- Interpersonal skills, including advocacy with governmental and non-profit agencies
- Compassionate and effective communication with clients and applicants
- Ability to effectively manage a moderate-volume caseload
- Creative and systemic thinking, with a willingness to implement unconventional strategies
- Experience working with diverse populations
- Connection to or experience working in TRLA’s service area and on the Texas-Mexico border preferred

Compensation and Benefits:

- Salary commensurate with experience
