Part-Time Intake Paralegal at Disability Justice and Health Justice Program - NYLPI

Salary: $25-30 per hour, 19 hours per week

Job Description:

- Conduct in-depth intake interviews with individuals seeking direct legal assistance or advocacy from Disability and Health Justice teams
- Provide resources and referrals to callers as needed
- Keep records and enter data in case management system
- Triage and direct calls to appropriate staff members
- Provide weekly summaries of all referrals and intakes to the teams
- Engage with callers in a compassionate and culturally competent manner

Qualifications:

- Excellent client interviewing, writing, and communication skills
- Proficiency with technology and willingness to learn new programs
- Ability to work with people from diverse backgrounds
- Strong organizational skills
- Spanish language fluency

Preferred qualifications:

- Bachelor's or Associate's degree, or paralegal certification
- 1-5 years of experience as a paralegal, intake specialist, or similar role
- Experience with healthcare systems, government benefits, working with people with disabilities, or immigrant communities

COVID-19 vaccination and booster dose required for in-person work at NYLPI office.
