Job Title: Child Support Officer II Organization: Office of the Attorney General (OAG) Department: Child Support Division (CSD) Salary: $3, - $3, per month Location: Beaumont, Texas Travel: Up to 5% of the time Schedule: Full-time, 40 hours per week Employee Status: Regular Grade: 13 State Job Code: 5541 The OAG's Child Support Division is seeking a motivated and mission-driven individual to join their team as a Child Support Officer II. In this role, you will be responsible for conducting detailed investigations to locate absent parents, establishing paternity, obtaining court orders for financial support and health care coverage for children, and enforcing child support orders. You will also be working with state agencies and community organizations to serve Texas families and promote the involvement of both parents in their children's lives. As a Child Support Officer II, you will have the opportunity to gain valuable investigative and legal experience while being part of a collegial team dedicated to supporting Texas children and families. Responsibilities of this role include conducting in-office investigations to locate parties, verifying employment and assets, preparing legal and administrative documents, negotiating payments and settlements, and monitoring and referring delinquent cases for enforcement action. You will also be responsible for maintaining accurate virtual files and staying up-to-date on child support policies and procedures, as well as federal and state regulations. To be considered for this position, you must have a high school diploma or equivalent, with a preference for a bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university. Experience in child support, credit collections, investigations, legal assistance, customer service, or IV-A eligibility is also acceptable. You should have knowledge of investigative practices and techniques, strong communication skills, the ability to handle multiple tasks and meet deadlines, and the ability to work cooperatively with others in a professional office environment.
