Job Title: Investigation Specialist I - 72003220

Experience: Bachelor's degree and one year of experience in legal or paralegal work, investigative work, human relations, human resources, regulatory inspections, social work, personnel, education, counseling, affirmative action (AA), equal employment opportunity (EEO), or in working in the juvenile or adult criminal justice system. Overview:

The Florida Commission on Human Relations is a state agency responsible for enforcing civil rights laws and promoting fair treatment, equal opportunity, and mutual respect among all members of society. Responsibilities:

- Conduct independent investigations into discrimination cases within the state of Florida
- Gather and record accurate and thorough information through interviews and correspondence with involved parties
- Conduct research and collect facts about assigned complaints
- Write investigative reports within statutory timeframes
- Testify and appear before Commission panels, civil court proceedings, and administrative hearings
- Present findings and recommendations in a detailed and professional manner
- Maintain strict confidentiality and make independent decisions
- Communicate effectively both verbally and in writing
- Establish and maintain productive working relationships with others

Requirements:

- Bachelor's degree and one year of relevant experience OR equivalent experience in lieu of education
- Experience conducting fact-finding interviews and writing detailed reports
- Experience dealing with and analyzing large amounts of documentation
- Knowledge of investigations techniques, rules of evidence, and court procedures
- Skilled in using logic and reasoning, active listening, and deductive reasoning
- Ability to analyze information and make sound decisions
- Strong communication skills and ability to handle sensitive and confidential situations with integrity and tact
- Strong work ethic and ability to manage a busy workload while remaining flexible
- Positive and respectful attitude towards diverse individuals and situations
