A law firm in Sarasota, Florida, is seeking a Senior Labor and Employment Attorney to represent public and private employers of all sizes. The candidate will handle litigation matters in federal and state courts, as well as administrative proceedings. Additionally, the role involves providing proactive advice on risk management, workplace policies, and human resources issues to minimize litigation risks. A portable book of business is preferred.

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Representing clients in federal and state courts, and before federal, state, and local administrative agencies in labor and employment matters.
  • Advising clients on risk management strategies, workplace policies, and compliance with employment laws and regulations.
  • Conducting employment audits, training seminars, and providing daily advice to clients on employment-related issues.
  • Assisting clients with complex employment matters including hiring, discipline, layoffs, and terminations.
  • Drafting, negotiating, and interpreting various employment-related documents and agreements.
  • Handling investigations, including those related to discrimination, harassment, and other workplace issues.

 

Requirements:

  • Juris Doctorate (.) degree from an ABA-accredited law school.
  • Member of the Florida Bar in good standing.
  • Preferably Florida Bar Board Certification in relevant area of labor and employment law.
  • 5-10 years of experience in labor and employment law, with proficiency in areas such as ADA, arbitration, class actions, EEOC, employee benefits, ERISA, FLSA, labor relations, OSHA, Title VII, wage & hour laws, and whistleblower matters.
  • Proven track record of handling complex employment litigation and counseling clients effectively.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to convey complex legal concepts clearly and concisely.
  • Strong negotiation and drafting skills for preparing legal documents and agreements.
  • Ability to build and maintain strong client relationships.
  • Detail-oriented with strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Proactive approach to legal issues and client needs.
  • Team player with leadership capabilities.

 

Education and Certifications:

  • Juris Doctorate (.) from an ABA-accredited law school.
  • Member of the Florida Bar, in good standing.
  • Florida Bar Board Certification in relevant area preferred.
