A law firm is seeking an experienced Family Attorney to join its team in Chicago, IL. This full-time position requires a dedicated and passionate attorney to handle complex family law cases, including divorce, child custody, alimony, child support, and domestic violence matters. The ideal candidate will have a proven record of success in both litigation and negotiation, as well as a strong commitment to providing excellent client service during difficult times.
Location
Duties
- Represent clients at court hearings, ensuring effective advocacy.
- Assist with sales efforts by handling incoming calls from potential clients.
- Manage client accounts, including collection rates and receivables.
- Oversee the division of marital assets, including real estate, during divorce proceedings.
- Maintain well-organized and up-to-date client files.
- Collaborate with senior partners and paralegals to move cases through the litigation process.
- Draft legal documents, including pleadings, motions, settlement agreements, judgments, and orders.
- Advocate for clients by understanding their needs and formulating legal strategies.
- Handle sensitive family law matters such as child abuse, custody, and domestic violence cases.
Requirements
- At least 5 years of experience in family law, particularly divorce, child custody, and alimony.
- Licensed to practice law in the state of Illinois.
- Strong knowledge of family law and experience with real estate issues related to divorce (., marital property division).
- Excellent negotiation skills, especially in emotionally charged situations.
- Familiarity with technology and software tools (Microsoft Office, Google Suite, CRMs, time tracking, Slack, Zoom, etc.).
- Ability to represent both plaintiff and defendant sides of a case effectively.
- Previous experience with criminal justice or other legal backgrounds is preferred.
- Active member of the ABA (American Bar Association).
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work well under pressure.

Education
- Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
Certifications
- Must be licensed to practice law in Illinois.
