Job Overview:
A prestigious law firm located in New York City is seeking an experienced Employment Law Associate Attorney to join their dedicated team. This firm specializes in advocating for individuals facing discrimination and harassment in the workplace. The ideal candidate will be passionate about civil rights and employment law and will have an opportunity to work with experienced litigators in a supportive, collegial environment. This position offers hands-on exposure to a variety of employment-related cases.

Duties:

  • Conduct comprehensive legal research and analysis on statutes, regulations, case law, and other legal materials relevant to employment law.
  • Maintain effective communication with clients to gather case information, provide progress updates, and respond to any inquiries.
  • Draft legal documents, including pleadings, motions, complaints, and legal memoranda for both state and federal cases.
  • Assist in case management by organizing and keeping track of case files, calendars, and deadlines.
  • Prepare and conduct depositions, including questioning witnesses and compiling evidence.
  • Manage discovery processes, including drafting responses to discovery requests and reviewing documents.

Requirements:

  • A minimum of 1-2 years of experience in litigation or clerkship roles, with a focus on employment law or civil rights.
  • Proven ability in legal writing, research, and analysis.
  • Strong verbal communication skills, with the ability to speak persuasively and effectively.
  • Excellent organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail.
  • Ability to perform under pressure while managing multiple tasks simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
  • Collaborative mindset with a desire to work in a team-oriented setting.
  • A strong commitment to representing individuals whose legal rights have been violated in the workplace.
  • Must be admitted to the New York Bar.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Admission to the New York State Bar is required.
