Job Description:

AbbVie is seeking a Senior Paralegal to join our team in supporting our global Clinical R&D organization. In this role, you will have the opportunity to interact with attorneys in the Legal Division and R&D business. Reporting to Senior Counsel, Clinical R&D Legal, you will exercise discretion, independent judgment, and critical thinking skills to negotiate, draft, and review clinical study-related agreements and legal documents. As a Senior Paralegal, you will also have the opportunity to represent AbbVie externally to customers, suppliers, competitors, opposing counsel, or government agencies and resolve legal issues using negotiation skills and legal experience.

Key Responsibilities:

- Negotiate, draft, and review clinical study-related agreements and legal documents
- Identify and resolve routine and moderately complex legal matters with minimal supervision
- Perform independent analysis and propose solutions for unique problems
- Represent AbbVie externally and resolve legal issues using negotiation skills and legal experience
- Escalate legal matters to attorneys and managers as needed
- Possess strong communication skills to gather relevant information and negotiate with individuals both inside and outside of AbbVie
- Develop knowledge of AbbVie's Clinical R&D business and keep abreast of changes in laws that may affect client areas
- Coordinate with AbbVie legal specialists on intellectual property and privacy law
- Manage multiple matters, set work priorities, and meet required deadlines
- Have flexibility to take on special projects and additional responsibilities as needed
- Keep legal department managers informed of project developments

Qualifications:

- Bachelor's Degree and/or relevant legal education (Paralegal certificate)
- Minimum 5 years of paralegal experience, including significant experience in negotiating contracts and one year in a corporate environment
- Excellent communication, organization, analytical, and interpersonal skills
- Strong attention to detail and project management abilities
- Ability to multi-task, analyze information, and understand client needs
- Proficient in area of responsibility

Additional Information:

- The compensation range for this position is $74,000 - $140,500, which may vary based on geographic location and other factors. This range may be modified in the future.
