Mid- to Senior-level Life Sciences Patent Prosecution Associate
The candidate will work on all aspects of patent practice with particular focus on preparation and prosecution of patent applications, freedom to operate and due diligence search and analysis projects. Provide technical expertise in life sciences patent practice. Work closely with colleagues and in-house counsel on IP related issues throughout the product lifecycle. Conduct freedom to operate and/or IP due diligence search and analysis in support of the licensing and acquisitions and/or research and development of large-molecule products. Prepare and prosecute patent applications, and help develop strong patent portfolios for pipeline products and platform technologies. Liaise with clients, the USPTO and foreign associates regarding the domestic and foreign patent application processes and strategies. Have opportunities for advancement in a collegial environment. Receive training opportunities with growing levels of responsibility. Collaborate with talented and team-oriented colleagues across practice groups and across offices.

Qualification and Experience The candidate should preferably have a Ph.D. (or Master's or other advanced degree) in biological sciences, e.g., molecular or cell biology, microbiology, immunology, genetics, or biochemistry. Should be registered patent attorney and have a Ph.D. degree and research experience in biological sciences. Must have 3-8 years of patent experience in life sciences and with a background in large-molecule products. A superior academic record is required. Prior law firm experience with patents in pharmaceutical and life sciences fields is needed. Current registration and in good standing with the USPTO is required. Should have prior experiences that prepare the candidate to work with attorneys, staff and clients from cultures and backgrounds different from their own. Excellent law school credentials and references are needed.
