## Summary

The Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA) is seeking an Associate Counsel, General Law II to provide support to the Deputy General Counsel/Unit Chief, General Law II with respect to the handling of litigation matters, complex subpoena responses, dispute resolution related to Agency contracts, quarterly audit reporting, and special projects.

**Job Title**: Associate Counsel, General Law II

**Salary Range**: $114,645 - $150,471

**Hours of Work**: 9:00 am - 5:30 pm (7 1/2 hours/day)

**Location**: 2 Broadway New York, NY 10004

**Deadline**: Open Until Filled

**Responsibilities**:
- Direct handling or supervision of outside counsel handling litigation, insurance disputes, Article 78 petitions, complex subpoenas, and civil rights/constitutional law/ADA matters
- Updating and maintenance of the Agency’s Record Retention Schedule
- Drafting and/or revising Transit Adjudication Bureau Rules of Conduct
- Participation in the preparation and negotiation of RFPs related to law office contracts
- Providing counsel to senior management and staff on a variety of topics such as ADA accessibility, customer complaints record retention inquiries and media requests

**Knowledge, Skills and Abilities**:
- Significant knowledge and experience handling commercial and general litigation matters in State and Federal Court
- Superior oral, written and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work under pressure and tight deadlines, with ability to prioritize projects and be open to suggestions and constructive criticism
- Attention to detail
- Excellent negotiating, drafting, practice-management skills and business judgment
- Ability to identify creative, business-oriented solutions to legal and business risks
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects and clients in a fast-paced environment
- Confidence dealing with senior management and sophisticated clients
- Proven capability to build and maintain strong client relationships
- Strong interpersonal, analytical, problem solving, organizational and litigation skills and demonstrated ability to work on a multi-discipline team

**Education and Experience**:
- Must possess a NYS license to practice law
- Must possess a law degree from an accredited law school and have excellent academic credentials
- Must possess a minimum of five years of legal experience, with at least three years of experience in litigation in State and Federal Court
