The statement should be in the form of a letter and should explain your interest in the Fellowship, your interest in serving the Newark community, and any experience or ties you have to Newark or New Jersey. Please also include information about how your background and experience will contribute to the work of the Fellowship. Responsibilities • Provide direct legal representation to low-income individuals and families in Newark, primarily in housing matters; • Collaborate with partner organizations and community groups to identify systemic issues affecting low-income residents of Newark and develop appropriate strategies to address those issues; • Conduct research and draft legal memoranda to inform systemic reform advocacy; • Participate in community education and outreach activities, including know-your-rights presentations and trainings; • Engage in public speaking and media outreach to raise awareness of issues impacting the Newark community; • Assist with pro bono trainings and mentorship of Firm associates; and • Complete other duties as assigned by the Pro Bono Partner and Newark Office Managing Partner.
