Job Title: Defense Litigation Associate Attorney - General Liability

Job Location: Stamford, CT (Hybrid remote opportunity)

Job Overview: A prominent law firm located in Stamford, CT is seeking an experienced Defense Litigation Associate Attorney with expertise in general liability. This position will support a diverse range of clients, primarily in the areas of general and premises liability, product liability, toxic torts, and professional liability defense. The successful candidate will handle cases related to senior living/assisted living facilities, medical professionals, and more, in various courts across New York, New Jersey, and federal jurisdictions. This is an excellent opportunity for an attorney seeking to expand their experience across multiple legal areas.

Duties:

  • Take and defend depositions.
  • Conduct legal research on medical, scientific, and legal issues and collaborate with senior attorneys to develop strategies.
  • Draft memoranda, briefs, motions (including motions for summary judgment), pleadings, and discovery documents.
  • Prepare detailed reports for clients, including deposition summaries, medical record analyses, case evaluations, and case evaluations.
  • Coordinate and collaborate with expert witnesses.
  • Assist in trial, mediation, and ADR preparation and planning.
  • Represent clients in court appearances, including oral argument of motions and discovery conferences.
  • Meet the minimum billable hour requirement of 1900 hours annually.

Requirements:

  • 2-5+ years of experience in general liability, premises liability, and/or product liability matters.
  • Juris Doctorate (JD) degree from an ABA-accredited law school.
  • Active membership in good standing with the state bar (New York required, New Jersey is a plus).
  • Familiarity with New York state courts.
  • Strong research, writing, and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong attention to detail, conscientiousness, and responsibility.
  • Professional, cooperative, and positive attitude in a team-oriented setting.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues at various levels of the organization.
  • Interpersonal and client relations skills.
  • Military experience is welcomed.

Education:

  • Juris Doctorate (JD) degree from an ABA-accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • An active member in good standing with the Bar (New York required; New Jersey is a plus).
