Job Overview:
A prominent law firm is seeking an associate attorney to join its labor and employment practice. This position involves handling a broad spectrum of labor and employment issues including union matters, collective bargaining, discrimination laws, wage and hour issues, and other laws impacting the employer-employee ;

Location:

  • Pittsford, NY

Duties:

  • Conduct research on labor and employment law matters.
  • Draft employee handbooks, policies, and position statements.
  • Respond to administrative charges from agencies (., EEOC, NY State Division of Human Rights, CT Commission on Human Rights).
  • Communicate with clients to gather information for legal position statements.
  • Draft motions for federal and state court proceedings.
  • Respond to discovery requests.
  • Prepare deposition outlines, exhibits, and witnesses; participate in first and second chair depositions.
  • Assist partners in preparation for mediations, arbitrations, oral arguments, hearings, fact-finding conferences, and trials.
  • Serve as second chair and, when appropriate, first chair for mediations, arbitrations, oral arguments, hearings, and trials.
  • Meet a minimum annual billable hour requirement of 1,800 hours.

Requirements:

  • 2-5 years of experience in labor and employment law or litigation.
  • Admission to the New York State Bar (required).
  • Admission to the Connecticut Bar (or ability to waive in) preferred.
  • Juris Doctorate (JD) from an ABA-accredited law school.
  • Active member in good standing of the bar.
  • Strong research and writing skills.
  • Effective oral and written communication abilities.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
  • High-level organizational skills for task prioritization.
  • Ability to quickly absorb and process new information.
  • Strong work ethic, self-discipline, and dedication.
  • Professional, cooperative, positive, and flexible attitude.
  • Ability to work with diverse personalities at all levels within the organization.
  • Military experience is welcomed.

Education:

  • Juris Doctorate (JD) from an ABA-accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Admission to the New York State Bar (required).
  • Admission to the Connecticut Bar (preferred).
