Law Firm Seeking Patent Engineer or Agent with Video Encoding Experience

Michael Best & Friedrich LLP, a leading full-service law firm with offices across the United States, is currently seeking a Patent Engineer or Agent to join our Intellectual Property Practice Group. This position is open in multiple office locations, including Chicago, Madison, Milwaukee, Waukesha, Denver, Raleigh, or Salt Lake City. We are looking for a candidate with a minimum of 2 years of patent drafting and prosecution experience, specifically in the area of video encoding.

Our ideal candidate will hold a degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics, Computer Science, or Computer Engineering and have experience with video processing and video codecs, including relevant standards for video encoding and decoding. Experience in virtual/augmented reality and AI is a plus.

Job Requirements
To be considered for this position, candidates must have a minimum of 2 years of prosecution experience at a firm or in-house, as well as experience with portfolio management. A degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics, Computer Science, or Computer Engineering is required. Candidates must also have strong knowledge and solid experience in video processing and video codecs, as well as familiarity with video coding standards. Graduate-level experience or an advanced technical degree is a plus. Admission to the USPTO is also a plus.
