The candidate will be responsible for performing a variety of complex legal services for city/county agencies and officials. Handles complex litigation and research assignments. Prepares complaints, answers, discovery, motions, briefs and other legal documents. Conducts and participates in depositions and hearings. Represents local governmental agencies in court, including hearings, conferences, trials, mediations and oral arguments in both state and federal court. Renders advice to governmental agencies, officials and employees with regard to litigation and settlement of lawsuits. Offers advisory legal opinions particularly with regard to litigation or potential litigation. Performs related duties as requested. Must have Doctor of Jurisprudence from an accredited college of university. Should have Valid legal license to practice law in Indiana. Must be admitted to practice in the . District Court. Knowledge of legislative process helpful. Knowledge of Municipal Code of Indianapolis helpful. Knowledge of and experience in administrative law helpful.
