Job Title: Defense Litigation Associate Attorney - General Liability

Job Overview: A reputable law firm is seeking a talented Defense Litigation Associate Attorney to join its dynamic team in White Plains, NY. This position will focus on general liability matters, particularly in the defense of medical and life sciences, premises liability, product liability, and toxic tort cases. The role involves working closely with senior attorneys and clients to manage cases in New York, New Jersey, and federal courts. This is an excellent opportunity for an attorney with litigation experience to further develop their skills in a collaborative environment.

Duties:

  • Take and defend depositions in general liability and product liability cases
  • Research legal, medical, and scientific issues, collaborating with senior attorneys on case strategy
  • Draft memoranda, briefs, motions for summary judgment, pleadings, and discovery documents
  • Prepare client reports, including deposition summaries, medical record reviews, case analyses, and valuations
  • Work with expert witnesses to support case development
  • Participate in trial preparation, mediation, and ADR proceedings
  • Represent clients in court appearances, including oral arguments and discovery conferences
  • Maintain a minimum of 1900 billable hours annually

Requirements:

  • 2-5+ years of experience handling general liability and/or product liability matters, with deposition and courtroom experience
  • An active member in good standing with the bar in New York; New Jersey Bar admission is a plus
  • Familiarity with New York state courts
  • Strong research, writing, and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills to handle competing deadlines
  • Professional, cooperative, and flexible attitude
  • Ability to work with diverse personalities across various levels of the organization
  • Military experience is a plus

Education:

  • Juris Doctorate from an ABA-accredited law school

Certifications:

  • Admission to the New York State Bar (required)
  • New Jersey State Bar (preferred)
