The Florida Commission on Human Relations is the state agency charged with enforcing the state’s civil rights laws and serves as a resource on human relations for the people of Florida. They are seeking an Investigation Specialist I to join their team and help promote fair treatment, equal opportunity, and mutual respect among members of all economic, social, racial, religious, and ethnic groups.

The successful candidate for this position will have a bachelor's degree and one year of experience in legal or paralegal work, investigative work, human relations, human resources, regulatory inspections, social work, personnel, education, counseling, affirmative action (AA), equal employment opportunity (EEO), or in working in the juvenile or adult criminal justice system. They will also have experience conducting fact-finding interviews, writing detailed reports, and analyzing large amounts of documentation. Knowledge of investigations techniques, court procedures, and active listening skills are also necessary for this role.

This is a career service position with a starting salary of $36,500. As an employee of the State of Florida, you will also receive a generous benefits package including vacation and sick leave, retirement, health insurance (over 80% employer paid), life insurance (80% employer paid), 10 holidays per year, flexible work schedules, tuition waivers, qualification for student loan forgiveness, and more.

In this role, you will be responsible for conducting investigations about discrimination cases within the State of Florida.
