A law firm in Chicago is seeking an experienced Energy Regulatory Associate Attorney with 4-5 years of energy transactional and/or regulatory litigation and compliance experience. The ideal candidate will have a strong academic record, exceptional interpersonal skills, and the ability to handle regulatory and compliance matters before state energy regulatory commissions, including the Texas Public Utility Commission. Advocacy experience with ISO/RTOs, such as ERCOT, and involvement in power transactions would be advantageous.

 

Job Details:

  • Handle regulatory and compliance matters before the Texas Public Utility Commission and other state energy regulatory commissions.
  • Manage matters before or involving ISO/RTOs, such as ERCOT, or organized power markets.
  • Provide advocacy before state utility commissions and participate in power transactions, including mergers, acquisitions, power sales, and related matters.
  • Demonstrate expertise in energy transactional and/or regulatory litigation and compliance.
  • Effectively handle multiple projects and articulate legal strategies and courses of action.
  • Work collaboratively with a team and exhibit superior judgment.
  • Maintain an active Bar license in the state.

 

Requirements:

  • Strong academic record.
  • Active Bar license in the state.

 

Education:

Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.

 

Experience:

4-5 years of energy transactional and/or regulatory litigation and compliance experience.

 

Skills:

  • Experience with regulatory and compliance matters before energy regulatory commissions.
  • Advocacy experience before state utility commissions.
  • Involvement in power transactions, mergers, acquisitions, and power sales.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work well with a team.
  • Superior judgment and ability to handle multiple projects.
  • Articulate legal strategies and courses of action.
