A prominent law firm located in Southfield, MI, is seeking a dynamic Associate Attorney to join their highly regarded Insurance and Reinsurance Litigation team. This position offers an opportunity to handle complex insurance coverage issues, including professional liability, general liability, and directors' and officers insurance policies. The ideal candidate will have significant experience in civil litigation, with a focus on commercial matters, and will contribute to the firm’s strong reputation in managing high-exposure claims.

Duties:

  • Manage and support litigation processes related to insurance coverage disputes, including professional, general liability, and D&O policies.
  • Draft pleadings, dispositive motions, and discovery documents.
  • Handle all phases of discovery, including motion practice and depositions.
  • Represent clients in court hearings and settlement negotiations.
  • Independently manage caseloads with minimal supervision, ensuring efficient case progression.
  • Collaborate with senior attorneys and clients to strategize and provide innovative legal solutions.
  • Participate in business development activities and maintain strong client relationships.

Requirements:

  • 4-7 years of experience in insurance coverage and commercial litigation.
  • Proven ability to handle complex litigation and high-exposure cases.
  • Strong knowledge of insurance policies, particularly professional liability, general liability, and D&O insurance.
  • Experience drafting legal documents, managing discovery, and taking depositions.
  • Ability to manage cases independently while working within a team-oriented environment.
  • Demonstrated strong legal research and writing skills.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Active license to practice law in Michigan.
