A law firm seeks an experienced Patent Prosecution Partner to join its dynamic team in New York City. This role is ideal for a collaborative individual who values diversity and innovation within a legal setting. The position is primarily remote, with the option for hybrid work for attorneys based in New York.

Duties

  • Oversee patent prosecution processes, including drafting and filing applications and responses.
  • Manage a diverse caseload of patent-related matters while ensuring compliance with all legal standards.
  • Develop and maintain strong client relationships through effective communication and strategic guidance.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to enhance patent strategies and address client needs.
  • Lead and mentor junior attorneys and support staff within the firm.
  • Stay informed of industry trends, patent law changes, and best practices in patent prosecution.

Requirements

  • A minimum of 8 years of experience in patent prosecution.
  • US registered patent attorney with an active state bar registration.
  • A portable book of business demonstrating established client relationships and business development skills.

Education

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
  • A technical background in Electrical Engineering (EE) or Mechanical Engineering (ME) is preferred.

Certifications

  • Active registration with the US Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO).
  • Active state bar membership.

Skills

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Exceptional writing skills, with experience drafting office action responses, published applications, patents, and appeal briefs.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills for effective client interactions.
  • Proven ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
