A law firm located in Needham is seeking a Senior Construction Contracts Specialist Attorney with 5+ years of relevant experience. The candidate will provide expert advice on construction contract drafting and negotiation, as well as transactional representation for the firm's client base. Secondary responsibilities may include litigation, bid protest-related work, and research for publication.

 

Duties:

  • Develop standard form owner-contractor agreements and riders to commonly employed AIA contract forms.
  • Create standard form subcontracts or master subcontract programs.
  • Advise clients on negotiation of contract provisions for specific subcontracts.
  • Represent clients in transactional matters, including commercial lease negotiation, asset purchase agreements, and consulting agreements.
  • Assist with negotiation of complex change orders and drafting of settlement agreements, waivers, and releases.
  • Perform some litigation and bid protest related work.
  • Research and prepare articles for publication in scholarly and trade journals.

 

Requirements:

  • Juris Doctor (.) from an ABA accredited law school.
  • Strong academic credentials.
  • Admission to practice law in a United States jurisdiction.
  • 5+ years of relevant experience.
  • Experience negotiating construction contracts in Massachusetts desired.
  • Admission to practice (or pending admission) in Rhode Island preferred.

 

Education and Certifications:

Juris Doctor (.) from an ABA accredited law school.

 

Skills:

  • Expertise in construction contract drafting and negotiation.
  • Strong understanding of construction law and contract provisions.
  • Experience in transactional representation.
  • Litigation skills and familiarity with bid protest procedures.
