Salary Range: $60,000 - $80,000 per year

Job Description:

The Legal Specialist II position at Elevance Health is a full-time role that offers a hybrid work model, with both remote and office responsibilities. The ideal candidate should live within 50 miles of our Elevance Health PulsePoint locations. This role is responsible for providing legal support services for multiple states, enterprise-wide functions, and complex litigation. The Legal Specialist II will have a minimum of 5 years of legal or related experience and a Paralegal Certification or an AA/AS/BA/BS in a related field.

Responsibilities:

- Prepare, analyze, and evaluate legal documents such as contracts, legal memorandums, objections to subpoenas, regulatory filings, and pleadings
- Conduct legal research and analysis and recommend appropriate courses of action
- Fact check, gather documents, and respond to subpoenas, record requests, and inquiries
- Monitor state and federal legislation affecting the corporation and make recommendations for changes in regulations and laws
- Assist with regulatory governance and compliance issues
- Attend and represent the company at legal proceedings, arbitration hearings, and subsidiary company board meetings
- Participate in projects and negotiations with business and staff
- Enter information into appropriate databases or document management systems

Requirements:

- Paralegal Certification or AA/AS/BA/BS in a related field
- Minimum of 5 years of legal or related experience
- Familiarity with state and federal insurance and healthcare-related laws and regulations
- Experience creating multi-state surveys of laws and regulations
- Familiarity with the Affordable Care Act (ACA)
- Experience working with provider contracts
