## Database Administrator Senior / Lead The Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office (MCSO) is looking for a Database Administrator Senior/Lead to join their team. This position is responsible for architecting, implementing, maintaining, tuning, and monitoring all enterprise databases. The Database Administrator Senior/Lead will ensure the highest level of system performance and availability, and compliance with business requirements. **Position Qualifications** To be considered for this role, applicants must have: - Bachelor’s degree in computer science or a related field. - Five (5) years of experience in database design, development, maintenance, administration, and support in a large-scale enterprise environment. - Possess a valid Arizona driver’s license or have the ability to obtain by the time of hire. - Willingness to complete FEMA NIMS – IS100 and 700; Safety; Payroll; PREA training. - Must pass a pre-employment background and/or fingerprint investigation. Our preferred candidate will have experience with database technologies used by the Maricopa County Sheriff's Office and experience with maintenance of Jail Management Systems. **Pay Range** The pay range for this position is $85, - $148,. **Essential Job Tasks** The Database Administrator Senior/Lead will be responsible for the following essential job tasks: - Design logical and physical databases to meet system requirements. - Establish and monitor processes that extract data from or load data into databases. - Provide support, standards, and information relating to database back-ups, archiving, and data recovery. - Perform database and software life-cycle activities to ensure highest level of system performance and availability and compliance with business requirements. - Maintain archival copies of database-related files and information. - Provide documentation and support to users, development and operations staff, and management. - Write, test, and put into production all tables, constraints, triggers, stored procedures and permissions. - Work with system programmers to create, enhance, and troubleshoot applications. - Monitor performance and database usage and adjusts as needed. - Maintain the integrity, security and availability of the databases. - Perform the process of database security in compliance with MCSO policy. - Provide physical model recommendations. - Provide escalation support for production and nonproduction databases; advise and assist other database administrators. - Collect and report data as required for departmental statistics. - Perform high availability and disaster recovery – installation and configuration at database layer to include 3rd party applications and always on availability groups. - Assist management in evaluating technology issues, policies and procedures. - Be present at work site to perform tasks as scheduled or assigned by the supervisor. **Working Conditions** The job tasks for this role will primarily take place indoors, although the Database Administrator Senior/Lead may be required to be outdoors occasionally. The role may involve managing emergencies, interruptions, time pressures, and high work volume. The position requires teamwork, concentration, accuracy, ethical conduct, and a professional demeanor. The physical environment of this role involves sitting, standing, walking, speaking, hearing, seeing, reading, distinguishing colors, bending/kneeling, reaching, precise dexterity, lifting floor to waist up to 25lbs, lifting waist to shoulder up to 25lbs, lifting shoulder to overhead up to 25lbs, carrying up to 25lbs a distance of 100ft, pushing/pulling up to 25lbs a distance of 100ft. The social environment of this role involves emergencies, interruptions, time pressures, accuracy, teamwork, working in close physical proximity with others, and may include high volume of work, handling multiple or complicated tasks, frequently changing or unscheduled tasks, decision making, concentration/vigilance, isolation, public contact, and overtime/rotating shifts. **Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities** The Database Administrator Senior/Lead should have knowledge of overall computer operations, including procedures and controls, hardware platforms, operating systems, database management systems and languages. The employee should have skill in using database management tools and processes, completing detailed analysis to identify problems and follow through to resolution, and employing specific programming tools to construct complex procedural routines and processes. The employee should have the ability to work independently on complex problems and initiatives, communicate effectively in written and oral formats, and comprehend and interpret highly technical information and convey as appropriate for the audience. **Selection Procedure** The Maricopa County Human Resources Department reserves the right to admit to the selection process only those candidates considered to be the most highly qualified. Those selected will be assessed based on the evaluation of listed education and experience. The hiring authority will interview and select the successful candidate from a list provided by Human Resources.
