Perkins Coie LLP is seeking a Business Legal Practice Assistant (Legal Secretary) in our Seattle, WA office. This is a full-time position with a competitive salary range of $57,980 to $104,360 annually, depending on qualifications and experience. The Legal Practice Assistant will provide administrative support to designated attorneys, paralegals, and other firm professionals in the Business practice group. As a member of the Perkins Coie LLP business professional support team, this position is also responsible for promoting and maintaining the goodwill and reputation of the firm.

Essential Functions:

- Proactively monitor timekeepers' workload and anticipate next steps to ensure tasks are completed efficiently
- Create, edit, and proofread legal documents
- Manage timekeepers' calendars and schedule meetings and trips
- File documents with courts and agencies and ensure deadlines are met
- Screen and route phone calls and take messages
- Process incoming and outgoing mail and arrange messenger services
- Coordinate with docketing specialist to ensure court documents meet firm requirements
- Conduct preliminary conflict checks
- Prepare new client/matter intake forms and engagement letters
- Assist with billing process and prepare accounting documents
- Arrange client meetings and appointments, including travel and accommodations
- Maintain administrative and client files and organize documents
- Create stock certificates and manage large mailings
- Coordinate client events and receptions

Specific Skills Preferred:

- Excellent organizational skills and ability to prioritize workload
- Knowledge of library operations and records management
- Familiarity with state and federal court procedures and deadlines
- Understanding of legal terminology and procedures

Education and Experience:

- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Seven or more years of previous law firm experience
- Notary certification helpful
