Job Overview: A well-established law firm is seeking an associate-level attorney with 2-5 years of experience in labor and employment or litigation law. The position will involve working on a variety of labor and employment issues, including traditional labor/union matters, collective bargaining, discrimination laws, wage and hour law, and other laws impacting the employment relationship. The role is open to candidates who are interested in a hybrid remote opportunity with the flexibility to work from various office locations.Location:Uniondale, NYDuties:Conduct research on various labor and employment matters.Draft employee handbooks, policies, and position statements.Respond to administrative charges from agencies such as the EEOC, NY State Division of Human Rights, and CT Commission on Human Rights and Opportunities.Communicate with clients to gather information for position statements.Draft motions for federal and state court proceedings.Respond to discovery requests.Prepare deposition outlines, exhibits, and witnesses; participate in first and second chair depositions.Assist partners in preparing for mediations, arbitrations, oral arguments, hearings, fact-finding conferences, and trials.Serve as second chair and, when appropriate, first chair in mediations, arbitrations, hearings, and trials.Meet the firm’s annual billable hour requirement of 1,800 hours.Requirements:2-5 years of experience in labor and employment law or litigation.Admission to the New York State Bar is required.Admission to the Connecticut Bar (or ability to waive in) is preferred.Juris Doctorate (JD) from an ABA-accredited law school.Active member in good standing of the bar.Strong research, writing, and analytical skills.Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.Capacity to work effectively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.Excellent organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks.Ability to absorb and understand new information rapidly.High performance standards, responsibility, and dedication.Professional, cooperative, positive, and flexible attitude.Ability to work effectively with diverse personalities at various organizational levels.Military experience is welcomed.Education:Juris Doctorate (JD) degree from an ABA-accredited law school.Certifications:Admission to the New York State Bar (required).Admission to the Connecticut Bar (preferred).Skills:Expertise in labor and employment law.Exceptional research, writing, and communication abilities.Strong organizational and multitasking skills.Ability to prioritize a diverse workload and meet deadlines.Ability to work independently and as part of a team.Professional demeanor and strong interpersonal skills.Benefits:Hybrid remote work opportunity.Competitive salary, dependent on experience and geographic location:Comprehensive benefits package (specific details not provided).Equal opportunity employer with a commitment to diversity, including military veterans.
