Organization: Florida Commission on Human Relations Position: Investigation Specialist I Salary: $36, Experience: Bachelor's degree and 1 year of experience in legal, investigative, human relations, human resources, regulatory inspections, social work, personnel, education, counseling, affirmative action (AA), equal employment opportunity (EEO), or in the juvenile or adult criminal justice system. About the Organization: - Enforces Florida's civil rights laws and serves as a resource for human relations in the state. - Works to eliminate discrimination in employment, housing, public accommodations, and state employee whistle-blower retaliation. - Promotes fair treatment, equal opportunity, and mutual respect among all groups and their members. - Offers a stable work environment with regular schedules and generous benefits package. Job Description: - Conducts independent investigations of discrimination cases within the state of Florida. - Gathers and accurately records information through interviews or correspondence with parties involved. - Conducts research and collects facts about assigned complaints. - Writes investigative reports within statutory timeframes. - Testifies and appears before Commission panels and in civil court proceedings and administrative hearings. - Pending reclassification and eligible for telework. Preferred Qualifications: - Bachelor's degree and 1 year of experience OR experience can substitute on a year-for-year basis. - Experience conducting fact-finding interviews and writing detailed reports. - Skilled in using logic, active listening, and deductive reasoning. - Ability to analyze information and write accurate reports. - Maintains strict confidentiality and makes independent decisions. - Strong communication skills and ability to establish productive working relationships. Minimum Qualifications: - Bachelor's degree and 1 year of experience. - Experience conducting fact-finding interviews, writing detailed reports, and analyzing documentation.
