Responsibilities

- Join a full-service AmLaw 100 law firm with a strong national presence in the Appellate Practice department
- Handle matters in federal and state courts coast-to-coast, including in the Supreme Court of the United States
- Utilize working knowledge of state and federal civil and appellate procedure to analyze and frame factual and legal issues
- Conduct legal research, write effective briefs, and present oral argument
- Secure significant victories for clients in jurisdictions throughout the country
- Work closely with a team of experienced and accomplished attorneys, including several board-certified in appellate law
- Evaluate trial records and identify key legal issues to consider in the appellate process
- Utilize strong advocacy and writing skills to effectively represent clients in appellate proceedings

- Handle a wide variety of civil appeals and extraordinary relief proceedings in various areas of law, including class action and mass tort, commercial litigation, construction, elder law, employment, healthcare, insurance coverage and bad faith, products liability, intellectual property, toxic torts/environmental litigation, and more
- Provide excellent client service and maintain strong relationships with clients

Qualifications

- Juris Doctor degree from an accredited law school
- Admission to the New York Bar
- 4+ years of experience in appellate law, with a strong understanding of state and federal civil and appellate procedure
- Excellent advocacy and writing skills, demonstrated through prior success in appellate proceedings
- Prior experience handling General Liability and/or Auto Liability cases is a plus
- Strong research and analytical skills, with the ability to identify key legal issues and frame arguments accordingly
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team and collaborate with colleagues in various markets
- Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines
- Commitment to providing excellent client service and maintaining strong client relationships
- Willingness to travel as needed for court appearances and client meetings
