Fishers office of our client seeks a lawyer with immigration experience or a strong desire to learn immigration law. The candidate will represent the existing client base primarily in immigration matters. Will work closely with the firm's clients, administrative staff, and the management of the firm. Managed the Asylum team (composed of several staff members) with strong leadership skills by making/taking assignments and ensuring that the group completed the casework timely. Strategize and prepare clients/witnesses for court/USCIS hearings. Represent clients in Master, Individual, and Final Hearings (some virtual and some in-person with travel required). Prepare and review immigration applications/packets and make any necessary adjustments prior to filing. Prepare and submit legal briefs for a variety of immigration cases. Communicate with the court, USCIS, and ICE on behalf of clients. Meet with potential clients in Initial Consultations and assess the ability to assist the client. Stay abreast of changes to US immigration law and monitor country conditions in countries from which clients immigrate. Must be bilingual (Spanish) and can communicate effectively in both languages, have the ability to appear in court to represent clients, and work behind the scenes prepping their cases while using today's technology well. Must be Bar licensed in any state (preference given to IN) or have the ability to be licensed by the end of 2023. Public speaking, decision-making, communication, interpersonal and problem-solving skills are necessary. Proficiency with Microsoft Office 365 and Adobe programs is necessary (Experience with MyCase or other practice management software is helpful).
