Job Overview:
A well-established plaintiffs-side civil litigation law firm, specializing in housing rights, discrimination, and sexual harassment, is seeking a skilled and passionate Litigation Attorney. The firm represents tenants across the Bay Area and Los Angeles in cases against landlords, developers, and property managers. The ideal candidate will have 3 to 6 years of litigation experience and be dedicated to achieving social justice for clients. Location:
Duties:
- Represent tenants in lawsuits against landlords, developers, and property managers for discrimination, wrongful eviction, and slumlord conditions.
- Handle civil litigation cases from start to finish, including case management, motion practice, mediations, depositions, and trial preparation.
- Draft, argue, and manage motions.
- Draft and attend mediations, including preparing briefs and presenting at hearings.
- Take and defend depositions.
- Manage relationships with clients, judges, mediators, defense counsel, and other parties.
- Maintain strong attention to detail and stay organized in case management.
- Collaborate with team members and contribute to a positive work culture.
- Opportunity to donate two paid hours per week to nonprofit organizations.
Requirements:
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in civil litigation.
- Strong passion for litigating and commitment to social justice.
- Experience in motion work (drafting and arguing motions).
- Experience in mediations, including drafting briefs and attending.
- Experience in taking and defending depositions.
- Ability to manage cases from start to finish independently.
- Strong case management skills with an excellent attention to detail.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Professional etiquette, with the ability to effectively communicate with judges, mediators, defense counsel, and clients.
- Ability to work well both independently and as part of a team.
Education:
- Juris Doctor (.) from an accredited law school.
Certifications:
- Licensed to practice law in the state of California.
