Job Overview:
A prestigious law firm is seeking a Senior Defense Litigation Associate with 6-10 years of experience to join its Medical and Life Sciences team. This role focuses on the defense of general and premises liability cases, as well as product liability defense for manufacturers of FDA-regulated products. The successful candidate will have significant experience in first-chair depositions, courtroom appearances, and complex legal strategy development.

Location:

• Uniondale, NY

Duties:

• Take and defend depositions in complex general and premises liability, as well as product liability cases.
• Conduct legal research on medical, scientific, and legal issues in collaboration with senior attorneys.
• Draft significant motions, including motions for summary judgment, pleadings, and discovery documents.
• Prepare detailed reports for clients, including deposition summaries, medical record analyses, case evaluations, and case analysis reports.
• Coordinate and work with expert witnesses on case strategies and testimony preparation.
• Assist with trial preparation, mediation, and ADR processes.
• Represent clients in courtroom appearances, including oral arguments and discovery conferences.
• Meet a minimum of 1900 billable hours annually.

Requirements:

• 6-10 years of experience in first-chair depositions and courtroom appearances, specifically in general/premises liability and/or product liability matters.
• Admission to the New York State Bar; New Jersey admission is a plus.
• Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an ABA-accredited law school.
• Active member in good standing of the New York Bar.
• Extensive experience with New York Courts and litigation processes.
• Strong research, writing, and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to innovate and thrive in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
• Self-motivated with the ability to manage multiple, competing deadlines.
• Excellent interpersonal and client relationship skills.
• A professional, cooperative, and positive attitude, with the ability to work with diverse personalities.
• Military experience is welcomed.

Education:

• Juris Doctor (JD) from an ABA-accredited law school.

Certifications:

• Admitted to the New York State Bar (Required).
• New Jersey Bar admission (Preferred).

Skills:

• First-chair deposition and courtroom experience in general/premises and product liability law.
• Strong legal research and writing capabilities.
• Experience in drafting complex motions and legal documents.
• Trial, mediation, and ADR preparation.
