Job Title: Labor and Employment Counsel

Job Overview: A well-established law firm in San Francisco, CA, is seeking an experienced Labor and Employment Counsel to join their team. The ideal candidate will bring a wealth of experience handling single-plaintiff litigation, class actions, and PAGA matters, with a focus on employment law defense. The role involves managing cases from start to finish, offering legal counsel, and navigating complex legal issues. Duties:

  • Defend single-plaintiff litigation matters, including discrimination, harassment, retaliation, wage and hour, and reasonable accommodation cases.
  • Handle PAGA claims and class actions.
  • Manage cases independently from start to finish, demonstrating expertise in legal proceedings.
  • Draft and respond to initial pleadings and discovery requests.
  • Prepare and argue motions, including dispositive and discovery motions.
  • Take and defend depositions, including plaintiffs and corporate witnesses.
  • Provide counsel on federal and state employment laws and regulations.
  • Contribute to employment counseling for clients, addressing a variety of labor and employment issues.

Requirements:

  • Juris Doctorate (JD) degree required.
  • Licensed to practice law in the State of California.
  • 9-12 years of experience in labor and employment law.
  • Proven experience defending single-plaintiff litigation and handling employment-related claims.
  • Strong research and writing skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage cases and client relationships independently.
  • A portable book of business is preferred.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Active license to practice law in California.

Skills:

  • Expertise in labor and employment law, including defense of discrimination, harassment, wage and hour, and retaliation claims.
  • Experience with PAGA and class action litigation.
  • Excellent research and writing capabilities.
  • Strong oral advocacy skills, including experience taking and defending depositions.
  • Ability to handle cases independently from initiation to resolution.
  • Solid understanding of federal and state employment laws and regulations.
