Akin Gump Strauss Hauer & Feld LLP Reviews

- Reviewed on June 05, 2017

This firm is a good place to get your foot in the door. Don't expect any raises and promotions any time soon. However, if you put your work and time in here, it will pay off in the long run!

Pros : Welcoming environment, okay management
Cons : Unfortunately, the one thing I noticed about this place was the only okay management. This kind of makes it a hard place to have career advancement, if that's what you're looking for, and I wasn't a fan of the amount of PTO they offered compared to competing firms.

Notable cases

  • Akin Gump advised clients such as the AF Telecom in the $8.5 billion restructuring of the Russian phone operator MegaFon, Exxon Mobile in its multibillion dollar joint venture with Russian petroleum firm Rosneft and LUKOIL, which is Russia's second largest oil company.
  • An opinion in Brinker v. Superior Court, was issued by the California Supreme Court, which upheld the position of firm client Brinker International. This is one of the world's leading casual dining restaurant companies. This was a crucial decision for hundreds of thousands of employers and employees.
  • Akin Gump stood for the Official Committee of Unsecured Creditors of Washington Mutual, Inc. in WMI's chapter 11 bankruptcy proceedings. This had resulted from the largest bank failure in U.S. history. WMI emerged from chapter 11 bankruptcy in March 2012 after over three years of contentious bankruptcy proceedings.
