Even in a Tight Economy, Substantive Legal Jobs are Available on LawCrossing

LawCrossing reveals over 45,720 legal jobs on its website that still remain unfilled. Of these, 1296 are in Los Angeles, 1722 in Chicago, 3223 in New York City, 1039 in Houston and 3386 in Washington. This alone reveals that there are substantive legal jobs being created in the country. It is widely believed that law schools are churning out too many lawyers and the legal industry is not being able to support them. But, LawCrossing's data reveals that new jobs are being created in almost all areas of legal practice. Jobs are growing once again after the legal industry lost several jobs between May and June. "While only 56.2% of the 2012 class of law school graduates was employed within nine months after earning their graduate degree, the current uptick in hiring reveals that more lawyers will be employed soon," says Harrison Barnes, Chief Executive Officer of LawCrossing. Many organizations and schools are making efforts to promote law graduates so that a lucrative legal career does not become a shaky proposition for students spending about $150,000 on a legal education. The Justice Department for one, has taken a new approach to deal with the cutbacks caused by sequestration. It has begun a pilot program that allows lawyers to gain public service experience while providing valuable support to the Justice Department. The experience attained could help them to further chisel their skills. Companies wanting to catch up with the Affordable Care Act and other regulations written years ago are now creating a demand for healthcare experts. In this respect, the University of Akron has created a center dedicated to training next generation health care lawyers. Many legal schools are also offering niche courses in infra contract, human rights, cyber crime, law acquaintance, corporate finance, and finance management because much demand for legal professionals lies in these areas. Hiring has not stagnated.
