Job Title: Assistant Dean of Career Services

Job Responsibilities:
The Assistant Dean of Career Services at a reputed firm serves as the senior employee and supervisor of the Career Services Office (CSO). This position is responsible for leading the CSO’s efforts to maintain and strengthen employment networks to provide students and alumni with a wide range of quality internship and post-graduate job opportunities. Key responsibilities include:

- Planning and Management: Develops and manages strategic goals, staff, and annual plans, including budgets for the Career Services office. Creates innovative programming and recruitment activities and refines metrics to track performance results for key department activities. Applies for grants and funding when appropriate.

- Employer Outreach: Develops and oversees a strategic employer outreach plan for specific legal specialties and geographic regions. Increases employer recruitment of students through fairs, job postings, and other activities. Develops strong relationships with employers nationwide to create hiring opportunities for students and alumni.

- External Relations: Authors career and networking-related articles for national publications and develops seminars to enhance relationships with the legal community. Represents the firm through service on national, state, and regional networks and committees. Handles all accreditation and audit responsibilities.

- Communications: Oversees a detailed communication plan to educate and engage students, alumni, faculty, and employers about the law school and CSO services. Ensures high-quality communications through various platforms.

- Employment Initiative and ERSS: Supervises the collection and maintenance of department and job-placement statistics to ensure compliance with requirements set by the ABA and other organizations. Develops support plans for recent graduates and creates projects to increase employment opportunities.

- Faculty and Alumni Board Association: Serves as a liaison between the CSO and faculty. Works with the Alumni Board Association to support students and recent graduates with mentorship and job guidance.

- Individualized Career Advising: Manages advising programs and serves as a career advisor to assist students and graduates in making career decisions. Oversees successful advising initiatives and ensures consistency among advisors.

- Career Skills and Professional Development Programming: Develops and manages educational programs to enhance students’ knowledge about the legal profession and career opportunities. Facilitates networking opportunities and partners with faculty for professional development training.

- Market Research and Understanding: Researches and maintains an understanding of legal market trends. Manages assessment and analysis of trends and reports to the Dean and faculty.

- Online and Printed Materials: Oversees the development of CSO-related materials for distribution. Collaborates with Admissions to ensure accurate reporting of employment and career-related information.

- Other: Assists the Dean of the law school in CSO-related activities and serves on the Management Team.

Education and Experience Information:
- A Juris Doctorate (JD) degree is required.
- Current admission to a state bar is mandatory.
- Preferred qualifications include at least five years of legal practice experience and a minimum of three years of career development or relevant experience.
- A record of substantial professional accomplishment and leadership skills is strongly desired.
- Knowledge and skill in strategic planning and managing departmental budgets are important.
- Experience in building or enhancing programs and working successfully in a collaborative environment is valued.

Salary Information:
The hiring range for this position is $101, - $125, per year. Factors considered when extending an offer include the scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate’s qualifications, internal equity, market considerations, and organizational needs.

- Dynamic personality with excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to interact professionally and show a strong commitment to helping law students develop career skills.
- Proficiency in career management software and advanced computer skills are required.
- Experience and sensitivity in working with diverse backgrounds and cultures.
- A valid driver’s license is required, and the applicant must meet the firm’s fleet rules to be eligible to drive for business purposes.

The position requires some travel and may involve additional hours beyond normal business hours to meet business needs.
