Overview

Prior to starting Ionno & Higbee, Attorneys at Law, LLC, both partners Sebastian B. Ionno, Esq. and D. Rebecca Higbee, Esq. were associates at one of the most prominent plaintiffs’ civil rights firms in southern New Jersey.

Mr. Ionno has spent the past 8 years learning from one of the most skilled plaintiffs’ attorneys in New Jersey at a firm that has literally changed employment law in New Jersey with decisions such as Hurley v. Atlantic City, Taylor v. Metzger, Hancock, Warner v. Oaklyn, Cutler v. Dorn, Nardello v. Voorhees, and Owens v. Feigin. Mr. Ionno has developed advanced trial advocacy skills and has appeared before all of the courts of New Jersey (Supreme Court, Appellate Court, Superior Court, Federal District Court, Administrative Law and Workers Compensation Courts, and departmental/quasi-judicial bodies). Mr. Ionno has a particular expertise in the areas of employment discrimination, "whistleblower" suits, sexual harassment, and civil rights violations, which allows him to skillfully represent plaintiffs who have been victims of discrimination, workplace harassment and retaliation, unlawful termination, or other civil rights violations, and also to advise employers on what federal and state employee protectio laws require. Mr. Ionno also has expertise in handling claims against public entities.

Ms. Higbee also represents clients in employment discrimination, "whistleblower", sexual harassment, and civil rights suits, but spent her first five years in practice handling matters in a broad range of areas, which allows the Firm to accept clients whose needs fall within almost any litigation practice area. Ms. Higbee represents clients in general litigation; commercial litigation; probate litigation; family law (divorce, child custody, adoption); and landlord-tenant matters; in addition to non-litigation matters such as estate planning; consumer bankruptcies; residential real estate transactions; and lease and contract negotiation, drafting, and review matters. With her background in writing, Ms. Higbee also handles the majority of the written advocacy for the Firm from the trial court level through to the New Jersey Supreme Court.

In addition to their particular areas of strength, both of the Firm’s attorneys represent clients in personal injury, automobile negligence, premises liability, and municipal court matters.
