5.Current Employee, more than 3 yearsVery satisfiedParalegal in Indianapolis, INRecommendProsVery flexible, responsive management and competitive payConsSometimes the work load can be excessive, but it is usually manageable
Working with the staff at the company is pleasant, but there are some drawbacks to keep in mind. Associate market raises are not evenly distributed, and the process of deciding salaries is not transparent. The company lacks flexibility, forcing employees to work in the office despite remote work options. There is no training offered, and the Indianapolis office lacks diversity. The company also lacks up-to-date legal software and systems. Furthermore, there's no bonus system for hours worked, and the company has a rigid approach towards maternity leave. An employee reported having to negotiate their maternity leave while in labor, eventually resorting to taking short term disability and unpaid leave.
Treat employees better.
Decent initial pay
No work/life balance. Treats staff employees like children. Expensive benefits, $50 co-pay for a regular dr. visit. Quality of work doesn't matter they just want employees who tow the line and if you speak up about any dissatisfaction you will be reprimanded.
Let the group go or they will ruin your reputation, their billing practices, attitude towards the firm leaders and management, the insubordination and disloyal conversation will prove to ruin the DC office and future prospects.
Location is near museums, metro, monuments, theatres, fine restaurants, court buildings, parade route, building is clean and modern, security personnel are very friendly and helpful
The IP Attorneys and paralegal are lazy, procrastinating and irresponsible with no integrity whatsoever. The stand around all day, well into the afternoon before they begin to look at any work product, gossip and talk about whomever is not in the room at the moment and have nothing positive or inspiring to say about anything.
Junell, Shanks, Finan and Fabian recently joined the firm as refugees from Venable, who gave them a week to pack and leave the firm. This is their third firm as a group, after unsuccessfully managing their own firm.
Other people outside the IP group are nice, cordial, friendly, nosey and curious but totally harmless, outdoor concert activities are pleasant, but too many homeless people and the stench of urine is discomforting.
3-4 years
The law office should work on rewarding their employees and staff with a higher wage. The management team needs training on being more communicative and appreciating their staff and employees.
The law firm is composed of a group of staff and employees which are very hard working. The firm does a great job in offering a wage that is a little more than other firms.
The law firm management team does not pay attention to the level of work which staff and employees perform. The staff and employees are under-appreciated. Communication is not something that is used at this office.
Work with the employees schedules more and create flexible work arrangements for those who want to have a life outside of the legal industry.
This is a very large firm with over twenty offices and growing. It's well respected and has an excellent reputation. The pay and the benefits are both excellent for people who produce good work. There is work in so many different areas and you can gain a lot of experience here.
If you're not one of the top people you are very often ignored. They expect you to be on call full time and there really is no balance at all between work and your life outside of work. It's very demanding time wise.
Management needs to treat their employees better and not encourage anyone in a position of power to talk down to those beneath them.
There is great amount of growth and advancement opportunities at this firm. There are really good benefits that come along with the heavy workload. Even with that said, I never found myself irritated or flustered. It's always interesting work and with such a big staff, I was never bored.
There are some serious issues at this firm when it comes to bullying. I've observed lots of trash talk and harsh gossip talked behind people's back. Unfortunately, the upper management chimes in on the bullying of their staff members and goes along with it. Along with bullying, there's a lot of inappropriate behavior committed by attorneys.
Thank you.
