5.Former Employee, more than 8 yearsGreat benefits, but not worth giving up your mental and physical healthAdministrative in New York, NYRecommendProsGreat team, great energy. Admin staff and a few key stakeholders and attorneys were a delight to work for and with.ConsLots of politics with an unhealthy and toxic environment with some departments.Advice to ManagementI believe youve seen and have experienced for yourselves all the good talent youve lost during and after the pandemic and how you keep loosing those people who have gone far and beyond to be on top and work hard. Take a look within your own inner circle, there are a few rotten apples there making working there impossible.
If you are hiring laterals, value their choice of joining the firm and provide them with equal opportunities and benefit of doubt as the home-grown lawyers.
The firm has high profile clients and definitely a good place to begin your practice. However, if you are joining as a lateral, be ware! The treatment you receive is completely different from the home-grown lawyers. I have seen few laterals in the M&A/PE department that survived a year!
They are surprisingly cruel towards the laterals in the M&A/PE department. It feels like a frat house and it is not just the partners but fellow associates as well. It feels like you are constantly trying to be a part of a fraternity.
There are no specific ones to avoid. They can be good teaches when they want to, but they choose to be different towards laterals.
They have good clients, but again not easily accessible to laterals, specifically in the M&A group. Other departments (other than M&A) are friendly and nice to work with.
There needs to be a continuation of partners offering more opportunities to juniors to learn. The amount of work should be reduced alongside the amount of hours.
The law firm is a place in which the level of work is in a higher degree. Partners of the law firm offer opportunities to juniors to learn more in the field.
The amount of work associated within the firm results in hours of work that may not be for everyone. IT department has some restrictions that can sometimes cause difficulty in competing day to day tasks.
Raise the compensation to an adequate amount. Put some more competent people in management.
The atmosphere is very innovative. The lawyers are professional and some of the best. This is a good place for newcomers to work. Everyone is friendly and supportive.
Some people in management didn't work very well with employees. The pay was alright, but not what it should be.
Management needs a shakeup.
Benefits, Benefits, Benefits.
Like most firms I've worked in or read about, this firm offers very little time to have a social life. Management can create a very toxic environment at times. Very rare chances to move up. I busted my butt for more than a decade before ever even being considered for a promotion.
Thank you.
