Job Description
The County of Los Angeles is seeking a highly qualified individual to fill the position of Assistant Inspector General in the Executive Office of the Board of Supervisors. As the Assistant Inspector General, you will assist the Chief Deputy and Inspector General in providing independent civilian monitoring of the Probation or Sheriff’s Departments’ operations. You will also manage the oversight, audit, and/or monitoring branches of the Office of the Inspector General.
Responsibilities:
- Assist in the development and implementation of policies and procedures for the Office of the Inspector General
- Conduct audits, investigations, and monitoring activities to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local laws and regulations
- Provide recommendations for improving operations and procedures
- Collaborate with other agencies and departments to ensure effective oversight and monitoring
- Prepare reports and presentations for the Board of Supervisors and other stakeholders
- Oversee and manage a team of staff responsible for conducting audits, investigations, and monitoring activities
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice, Public Administration, or a related field
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in law enforcement or criminal justice
- Experience in conducting audits, investigations, or oversight activities in a government agency preferred
- Strong knowledge of federal, state, and local laws and regulations related to law enforcement and criminal justice
- Excellent communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Strong leadership and management skills
