Job Title: Juvenile Rights Practice Legal Intern - Fall 2025
Job Responsibilities:
Legal interns will work directly under the supervision of Juvenile Rights Practice attorneys. They will be part of an inter-disciplinary team that includes social workers, paralegals, and investigators. The primary responsibilities include:
- Assisting JRP attorneys in providing legal representation to children aged 0 to 21 who are involved in New York City Family Courts on cases related to child welfare, Persons-in-Need-of-Supervision (PINS), juvenile delinquency, adolescent offender, and termination of parental rights matters.
- Participating in mandatory supervision sessions.
- Attending training sessions and practice-wide webinars that are pertinent to their internship assignments.
- Collaborating effectively in a high-volume practice environment.
Education and Experience Information:
- Current 2L law school student in good standing.
- Relevant clinical program or work experience is preferred.
- A demonstrated commitment to children's issues and juvenile justice.
- The ability to interact effectively with children, adolescents, and family members.
- A strong commitment and interest in serving racially and socioeconomically oppressed communities.
Salary Information:
As an intern position, the role does not offer a salary. However, interns who meet specific eligibility criteria have the opportunity to receive a $1,000 stipend from the Howard Rossbach fund. This stipend is awarded through a lottery system to support 4-5 interns annually who demonstrate financial need and lack funding for their internship at the organization.

- Demonstrate financial need and lack funding for their internship.
- Submit a statement reflecting their strong interest in working at the organization upon graduation.
