Job Title: Policy Analyst – Policy & Strategic Affairs
Job Responsibilities:
As a Policy Analyst within the Policy & Strategic Affairs Division, you will play a pivotal role in shaping policy, supporting legislation, and enhancing cross-government collaboration. Your primary responsibilities include:
- Conducting in-depth legal and policy research to support the Attorney General’s initiatives across a broad range of issues, such as consumer protection and public safety.
- Drafting concise, well-supported policy briefs, talking points, reports, and memoranda for internal leadership and external stakeholders.
- Supporting agency leadership during legislative sessions by developing protocols, preparing hearing materials, coordinating with legislative staff, and reviewing agency output related to the session.
- Tracking legislative trends and regulatory developments to anticipate challenges and proactively support the department’s goals.
- Facilitating intergovernmental communications and maintaining partnerships with legislative offices, state agencies, local governments, and advocacy organizations.
- Working closely with internal divisions to capture performance data, document key accomplishments, and support planning efforts for reports and budget justifications.
- Contributing to strategic planning efforts by helping define priorities, identifying opportunities for reform, and developing data-informed recommendations.
- Supporting the Attorney General’s public communications and outreach efforts by drafting background materials, policy summaries, and public statements.
- Collaborating with and supporting the organization’s Chief Special Counsel on projects as needed.
Education and Experience Information:
The ideal candidate for the Policy Analyst position is an exceptional communicator and strategic thinker with a strong foundation in legislative or legal analysis. The required qualifications include:
- A Bachelor’s degree in public policy, political science, law, or a related field.
- Previous experience in policy, legislative, and legal analysis.
- Experience in public policy, legal research, legislative affairs, or government relations.
- Strong analytical and writing skills with the ability to translate complex issues into clear, persuasive arguments.
- Excellent organizational and time-management abilities, with the flexibility to manage competing priorities.
- A collaborative spirit and comfort working in dynamic, cross-functional teams.
- Confidence in presenting findings to leadership and other stakeholders.
Salary Information:
The salary for the Policy Analyst position ranges from $72,000 to $75,000 annually.
