Job Title: Tax Senior, Sustainability Credits – National Federal Tax Services
Job Responsibilities:
As a Senior Consultant within the Sustainability: Gi3 practice, the candidate will be responsible for advising clients on sustainability and social Federal Credits and Incentives (C&I) programs, and facilitating the analysis and documentation of such opportunities. This role involves working with companies to help them achieve their Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) goals by understanding relevant government incentives. The candidate will collaborate with colleagues across various member firms, including Tax, Advisory, Consulting, and Audit and Assurance, to deliver high-value sustainability and ESG C&I services.
The main responsibilities include:
- Facilitating Federal C&I engagements related to sustainability and ESG, including programs under the Internal Revenue Code (IRC) such as IRC section 45Q Carbon Capture Tax Credit, IRC section 48 Investment Tax Credit, and others.
- Delivering value to clients by identifying opportunities and advising them on potential benefits and eligibility requirements.
- Maintaining and developing strong internal and client relationships.
- Demonstrating sound judgment and a quality-first mentality in evaluating eligibility for various fact patterns.
- Developing processes with colleagues in other technical specialties and materials to perform benefit calculations.
- Collaborating with member firms to execute work streams such as valuation studies, tax equity modeling, and life cycle assessment (LCA) studies.
- Identifying potential issues, proposing solutions to leadership, and implementing process improvement strategies.
- Ensuring accurate and timely delivery of engagement deliverables, which may include presentation decks, executive summaries, credit calculations, completed tax forms, supporting files, memoranda, and IRS audit responses.
- Monitoring legislative and regulatory tax developments and working with the team to present potential opportunities to assist clients.
- Providing support with various internal initiatives and special tax-related projects.
Education and Experience Information:
Required qualifications include:
- Ability to perform job responsibilities within a hybrid work model requiring US Tax professionals to co-locate in person 2 – 3 days per week.
- Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, engineering, technology, or a related field.
- Over 3 years of experience in a related field.
- Demonstrated analytical and research skills, as well as effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Proven leadership skills showcasing strong judgment, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
- Demonstrated ability to collaborate and proactively develop internal and external working relationships.
- Ability to travel up to 25%, on average, based on the work performed and the clients and industries/sectors served.
- One of the following accreditations obtained, in process, or willing and able to obtain: Licensed CPA in state of practice/primary office if eligible to sit for the CPA; if not CPA eligible: Licensed attorney, Enrolled Agent, Certifications: Project Management Professional (PMP), Chartered Financial Advisor (CFA), Professional Engineer, GRI.
Preferred qualifications include:
- Advanced degree such as Masters of Tax, JD, and/or LLM.
- Strong organizational and time management skills with a demonstrated ability to work independently and manage multiple, competing priorities.
- Experience working in a virtual and/or global environment.
- Passion for leveraging technology and exploring new technology solutions.
- Excellent research and writing skills.
- Excellent presentation and communications skills.
- Previous Big 4 or large CPA or law firm experience.
- Experience with Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel.
Salary Information:
The wage range for this role considers various factors, including skill sets, experience, training, licensure, certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The disclosed range estimate has not been adjusted for the geographic differential associated with the location where the position may be filled. A reasonable estimate of the current range is $77,070 to $175,500. Additionally, candidates may be eligible to participate in a discretionary annual incentive program, subject to the rules governing the program, which depends on various factors, including individual and organizational performance.
